Increase in number of students abroad

New statistics reveals that the number of students going abroad is increasing. And that it is going to continue rising.

The Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen) recently published the new statistics on Norwegian students abroad. From 2008 till 2009 the number of students abroad was up by almost 2000 students. And from 2009 till 2010 it continues to rise with another 1000 student.

The reason is the high number of young people in Norway. The number of students will increase with as much as 15.000 to 17.000 over the next four years.

The wave of students brings with it a growing interest in studies abroad. The young generation wants international experience and as a possibility to stand out to their coming employer by taking degrees at universities abroad.

The Norwegian government has initiated a plan of internationalization to handle the increasing number of students. In order to accommodate the educational needs of the next generation the government is engaging in efforts to bring Norwegian students to universities around the world.
