AIESEC is the worlds largest international student-run organization and offers young people the opportunity to participate in international internships, experience leadership and participate in a global learning environment.
Through international internships and leadership experiences, AIESEC aims to offer the best qualitative and unique experiences in order to enable personal and professional development for student and recent graduates around the world.
Kjell Einar Barsnes is on an internship in Kenya, on education and HIV/AIDS. He writes about his experience:
I got an email from UiO Alumnus which told me about all the exciting opportunities AIESEC offers and decided do apply.
I think it is unique that I can both meet other AIESECers from all over the world and do something for the benefit of others as a teacher trainee.
I’ve been teaching at a primary school, but sometimes I feel that I’m learning as much as I’m teaching. I’ve gotten to know many great people both from AIESEC as well as pupils and teachers at the school. I’m halfway through my internship now, and hope to get much out of my last month here.
I’ve learned about African history by teaching it, and also I’ve gotten friends from new places. We’ve collaborated to collect donations and promote the school to potential sponsors. I think my experience will be useful both in general and when working with other jobs.
If I should bring a message for the future applicants for AIESEC’s internship program it would be:
Make the most out of your stay by being dedicated both at work and in getting to know co-workers and AIESEC people.
